The English "Premier League" is approaching its end, but it is still not clear which two clubs will play in the UEFA Champions League next season.
This evening at 18:30, a highly anticipated match between "Manchester United" and London's "Chelsea" will take place at "Old Trafford" stadium. These are crucial games for both clubs in the fight for a spot in the Champions League.
After "Arsenal" failed, "Chelsea" climbed to the fourth position, but a loss could once again level them with "Man Utd" in sixth place. "Arsenal", in fifth place, lags behind by just one point, but in third place, "Tottenham" leads "Chelsea" by only three points.
After this round, teams will have two more matches to play in the national championships. Here are some interesting facts about today's match:
- If "Manchester United" manages to win, it will be the first time since 1957 that the "Red Devils" defeat "Chelsea" three times in a row at their home ground.
- "Chelsea" has won more times against "United" in the Premier League (18) than against any other opponent.
All of "Chelsea's" victories at "Old Trafford" came under five different managers. Five of those victories were the debut wins for those managers at that fortress.
- "Man Utd" experienced seven losses in the last nine games for the first time since 1962.
- "The Red Devils" could lose two consecutive home games for only the fifth time in Premier League history. The last time this happened was in 2014, under the management of David Moyes.
- "Man Utd" has failed to score in their last three matches. The last time they didn't score in four consecutive matches was in 1992.
- "Man Utd" has not kept a clean sheet in 12 consecutive matches. The worst streak for the club was in 1970, when opponents scored at least one goal in 16 consecutive matches.
- "Chelsea" has lost seven out of seven Premier League away matches against top-ten teams. They only won in December against "Watford".
- Against top-ten teams away, "Chelsea" has been unable to win eight consecutive matches – five losses and three draws. The last victory was achieved in August 2017 against "Tottenham".
- "Chelsea" won only two out of 11 matches this season in which they conceded the first goal – two draws and seven losses. Both wins were against "Cardiff".
- All four of Gonzalo Higuain's goals were against teams in the bottom half of the table. Against top-ten teams, the Argentine only played five games (323 minutes) and scored only once.
