Manchester United unexpectedly entered the battle for Raheem Sterling, according to the English press. The "Red Devils" contacted Liverpool to find out how much it would cost to acquire the 20-year-old footballer.
Between these clubs, no transfer has taken place since 1964, so it is not surprising that Liverpool immediately refused to talk and clearly indicated that there would be no further negotiations between the teams.
The closest transfer was with Gabriel Heinze, when in 2007 Liverpool agreed to pay the buyout clause of 6.8 million pounds, but the Premier League tribunal stated that it only applied to foreign clubs.
Sterling, whose contract with Liverpool is still valid for two years, is also of interest to London's Arsenal and Chelsea, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich.
