For the first time in the last 19 years, the "Manchester United" club, not participating in the UEFA Champions League tournament, is considering the possibility of playing friendly matches sometimes in the middle of the week. This is done in order to earn more money, as due to not participating in the prestigious tournament, the team will lose about 40 million pounds sterling.
Despite the unsuccessful past season, the "Manchester United" club declared record high revenues - 433.2 million pounds sterling. The club's profit reached 23.8 million pounds, but due to not participating in the Champions League, revenues will drop by at least 10 percent.
Without participating in the Champions League, the "Manchester United" footballers only play matches on weekends. After an early exit from the FA Cup in this season, the team has only three matches left, which will take place in the middle of the week.
The possibility of playing friendly matches outside of England was confirmed by the team's manager Richard Arnold. However, it seems more realistic that these friendly matches overseas will take place during the winter break of the Premier League.
This summer, the match between "Manchester United" and Real Madrid in Michigan state in the USA attracted almost 100 thousand people to the stadium.
