“Manchester City” are approaching their third purchase this offseason. “The Athletic” journalist David Ornstein reports that the English champions have reached an agreement with “Leeds United” for the acquisition of midfielder Kalvin Phillips. Kalvin Phillips will join Manchester City for 42 million pounds plus 3 million in bonuses. “Leeds United” will also be adding one of Manchester City's young talents, 18-year-old Darko Gyabi, to their squad. Phillips was a key player for the England national team in the European Championship last summer, and also played a significant role in Leeds' return to the Premier League and their consolidation there. The 26-year-old midfielder may not stand out in terms of goals or assists, but he has strengths such as ball recoveries, long-range passing, and a threat in set-piece situations. At Manchester City, the Englishman should replace the departing Fernandinho.
