Legendary Diego Maradona has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the "Al Wasl" club in the United Arab Emirates.
The decision was made due to poor team results: "Al Wasl" finished in eighth place in the national championship, exited in the quarterfinals of the President's and Emirates Cup tournaments, and lost in the final of the Gulf Clubs Championship after a penalty shootout.
The specialist's contract was supposed to be valid for another year.
Since 2008, Maradona has been coaching the Argentine national team, but his contract was terminated after the 2010 World Cup, where the Argentinians reached the quarterfinals.
