Long-time Real Madrid full-back Marcelo does not plan to leave the royal club this summer, ESPN reports.
The 31-year-old Brazilian had a tough start to last season due to nagging injuries, and later struggled to secure a spot in the main team. Marcelo had more chances when Zinedine Zidane took over as the team's coach.
There were reports in the foreign media that the full-back may follow in Cristiano Ronaldo's footsteps and move to Juventus, further fueled by the almost completed transfer of another full-back, Ferland Mendy, to Madrid.
However, close sources to the player told ESPN that Marcelo wants to stay at the royal club this summer and fight for a place in the main lineup.
The Brazilian has been playing for Madrid since 2007, having played 486 matches and won 20 trophies.
Marcelo's current contract with Real is valid until the summer of 2022.
