Marijampolė's 'Sūduva' and FA 'Šiauliai' clubs parted ways amicably

In the 8th round of the "TOPsport A League," Marijampolė's "Sūduva" faced off against FA "Šiauliai." The first match at the main city stadium this year ended in a draw, with the teams that played different halves finishing the duel at 1:1 (1:0), sharing the points.

The first goal of the match fell in the 19th minute when Henry Uzochukwu directed the ball into the far lower corner of the net with a powerful shot from outside the penalty area. In the 29th minute, Nauris Petkevičius, who escaped the offside trap and broke forward, could have doubled the lead, but he hit the crossbar.

The equalizing goal came in the 69th minute when Vytas Gašpuitis headed the ball into the net after a brilliant pass from Daniel Romanovskis into the penalty area. In the 83rd minute, H. Uzochukwu could have scored a double, but Ignas Plūkas expertly saved the strong shot from outside the penalty area.

As the match was nearing its end, Nikitta Komissarovas failed to capitalize on a penalty kick, and the ball kicked by Nikolo Džokić from a turn also missed the target. At the very end of the match, both goalkeepers had work to do, but this time both were able to handle their tasks.

After the 8th round match of the "TOPsport A League," "Sūduva" remains in third place with 14 points, while the team from the Sun City sits one step lower with 12 points.
