On Sunday, the remaining two matches of the French football championship "Ligue 1" 14th round were played in French stadiums, in which the home clubs "Auxerre" and "Marseille" both defeated their opponents with the same score of 1-0.

Lately, the "Marseille" football players who have been unable to secure victories welcomed the "Valenciennes" team at their stadium in this round. In a fiercely contested match, both teams had chances to score, but the hosts were the first to do so - in the 61st minute Mamadou Niang broke through on the left flank and passed the ball perfectly to the penalty area, where Mickael Pagis was waiting and easily sent it into the goal.

After conceding the goal, "Valenciennes" tried to equalize the score and as the match approached its end, they had several real chances to score, but either lacked a bit of precision or were successfully defended by "Marseille" goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso.

In the other Sunday match, the fluctuating "Auxerre", who performed well at the beginning of the season, hosted the "Toulouse" team who surprised many with their performances. After a goalless first half, the only goal of the match was scored early in the second half - in the 48th minute, one of the leaders of "Auxerre" Luigi Pieroni beat the "Toulouse" goalkeeper with a precise shot and secured a crucial victory for his team.
