Europa League semi-final between Marseille and Salzburg Red Bull lived up to the name of such an important match. Marseille's team lost 1:2 in extra time, but it was enough for them to advance to the Europa League final, as they won the first match at home 2:0.
The Red Bull team entered the game with a two-goal deficit, but that did not break them. Amadou Haidara scored the first goal for Red Bull in the 53rd minute and revived hope.
However, in the 65th minute, Bouna Sarr scored an own goal, making the score 2:0. The teams failed to score for the rest of the game and were forced to play extra time. It also seemed that the winner would not be determined. Nevertheless, in the 116th minute, Rolando sent the ball into the goal after a corner kick, completely unmarked by the Red Bull defenders.
Interestingly, the corner kick at the Red Bull goal was awarded after a referee's mistake, as the ball left the Marseille player in the corner.
In the remaining minutes, the Red Bull team not only needed to equalize the score but also score two goals, as they conceded a goal at home. Furthermore, in the 119th minute, the Austrian team was left without A. Haidara, who received a second yellow card and was sent off the field.
Marseille will face Atletico Madrid players in the final. The Europa League final will take place on May 16 in Lyon, France.
