Marselio wants "Olympique" to be like Barthez © EuroFootball.com

"Marseille's 'Olympique' president Christophe Bouchet announced that the club is aiming to acquire French national team goalkeeper Fabien Barthez.

Manchester United goalkeeper was loaned to Marseille's team in January this year and immediately became the team's first choice goalkeeper.

Barthez's situation at Old Trafford is very unclear. Currently, the main goalkeeper for Manchester United is Tim Howard, so the Manchester club could release the Frenchman back to his homeland.

There are rumors that several other clubs are also interested in Barthez, so 'Olympique' must do everything they can if they want to keep the player in their club.

"First and foremost, Fabien and Manchester United have to work things out between themselves," said Bouchet.

"We really want him to stay because he brings stability and experience to our club, but it's very complicated."
