The task of defending their title became even more difficult for the Canadian Olympic champions.

Coach Bev Priestman learned of her punishment for other teams' snooping using drones. She was disqualified for one year from official competitions.

Additionally, the Canada head coach received a fine of 200,000 Swiss francs (175,000 pounds sterling). Alongside her, two other representatives of the Canadian national team were also penalized.

Meanwhile, Canada’s national team will have 6 points deducted. They had 3 points after their first victory against New Zealand – 2:1.

In the last Olympic Games, Canada triumphed in the final against the Swedish national team. The final required a series of penalties.
