Just a week before the start of the World Cup, the captain of the German national team, Michael Ballack, began to discuss the game tactics chosen by Jurgen Klinsmann.
On Thursday, the new London acquisition gave an interview to the football magazine "Kicker," stating that Germany cannot play the kind of football demonstrated in friendly matches with the Japanese national team.
"For the second year, Jurgen Klinsmann (the national team coach) has been gathering a young team, and we always make the same mistakes and have the same problems in defense," the German said at a press conference on the eve of the match with the Colombian team. "We play too much attacking style football, like in the match against Japan, and we don't control the ball enough. Teams like Costa Rica, Poland, Ecuador (Germany's opponents in Group A at the World Cup) will be well prepared, so we should focus more on our goalkeeping."
M. Ballack, who has not publicly criticized Jurgen Klinsmann before, added: "The coach knows what I think, and what other national team players think. We have already talked about it, so everything will depend on the coach's decision."
