Former captain of the German national team Michael Ballack announced on Tuesday that he is ending his career. At the age of 36, M. Ballack is one of the favorite German footballers, who has played for Bayern Munich and Chelsea in London. The footballer fought in the World Cup final with the national team in 2002.
In 2010, M. Ballack returned to Bayer Leverkusen, where he played from 1999 to 2002. After last season, the player was left without a contract, but he was linked to several clubs in the USA and Australia.
"At the age of 36, I can look back on the past. It was a wonderful time in professional football. When I was a child, I didn't even dare to dream about it. It was a privilege for me to work with world-class coaches and fantastic players. Now I am stepping into a new stage of life," M. Ballack said on eurosport.com, who scored 42 goals for the German national team.
