Doubts about his future sown within the ranks of Madrid's "Real", Cristiano Ronaldo insists that he does not regret his comments.
Immediately after winning the UEFA Champions League final, the Portuguese star hinted that he would soon reveal his future plans and spoke about the current team in the present tense.
"The 'Royal' club's star later admitted that the timing for such news was inappropriate, but the news will still need to be announced sooner or later.
"I spoke when I shouldn't have, but something will happen. The timing was inappropriate, but I spoke openly," Ronaldo is quoted by 'Sky Sports'.
"I will say something in a week, because the fans always support me and are in my heart. I don't talk much, but when I do - I do."
"Of course, I have something to say, but it wasn't the right time, although I don't regret it, because I was open. I continued to work towards that, but ultimately couldn't hold back."
The sniper who won the Champions League for the fifth time has spoken about his departure from "Real" before. However, this time, such talk is not just a negotiating tactic for a more profitable contract.
"This has been brewing for a long time. Money is not a problem," Ronaldo added.
"I have won five Champions Leagues, five 'Ballon d'Or' awards. I was already in history, but now I have done even more."
"No one bothers me, because I know how much I give to this club. I don't want to erase this unique moment with my team mates, who are the true champions."
