Lionel Messi once again showed his class.

In the World Cup qualifiers, Argentina defeated Peru 2-0, and the 36-year-old forward scored a "double".

After his two goals, Messi surpassed the record previously held by his former teammate Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan with 29 goals was the top scorer in the history of World Cup qualifiers (CONMEBOL in South America).

Before this match, Messi last scored a goal on September 8, also in the World Cup qualifiers.

He will receive the "Golden Ball" at the end of the month.
