On Sunday evening, the journey of the Mexican national team at the World Cup ended. In the last minutes of the game, the Dutch national team managed to score two goals and defeat the Mexicans 2:1. Mexican national team coach Miguel Herrera was convinced after the game that the Dutch won not without the help of the referees.
Miguel Herrera was upset that the Portuguese referee Pedro Proenca not only did not show a card to Arjen Robben for simulation, but also awarded a penalty to the Mexican goal.
According to the coach, the only reason why Mexicans are going home is the poor work of the referees.
Mexicans led after Giovani dos Santos' goal, but a few minutes before the end of the game Wesley Sneijder equalized the score, and later a penalty was awarded for a foul on Arjen Robben, which was converted by Klaas Jan Huntelaar.
M. Herrera did not hide his displeasure that a penalty was awarded. In his opinion, Arjen Robben simulated fouls throughout the game.
"The reason for our defeat is the referee. He eliminated us from the tournament. We missed the first goal and that was our fault. However, when referees start awarding penalties for simulated fouls, then you fall for incomprehensible reasons. Out of four games, in three the referees were unfavorable to us. We hope that the referee committee will take this into account and the referee will go home with us," the coach criticized the referees.
In the Mexican's opinion, A. Robben simulated three times: "Robben simulated three times and the referee should have warned him the first time. The referee needs to do this so that the player does not repeat it. If he does not do that, he knows he will not be eliminated. Why did a European referee officiate our game? Then why do we bring referees from Asia and Africa?"
