The Mexicans triumphed after Santiago Gimenez scored a goal in the 88th minute. The Feyenoord striker skillfully dealt with the opponents' defense and outplayed Panama's goalkeeper.
In this tournament, Panama's national team reached their third final in the history of the Gold Cup. In the semifinals, they defeated the Americans.
This is the ninth Gold Cup title for the Mexican national team. The USA national team has seven victories, and Canada has one.
