"Blackburn" team and Norway national team defender Morten Gamst Pedersen has rejected an offer from Tottenham Hotspur and will stay at Ewood Park. It has also been revealed that another defender, Steven Reid, has decided to tie his future with the Blackburn team. After an excellent second season in the Premier League last week, the 24-year-old defender signed a new four-year contract with Blackburn, helping the team finish in a high 6th position and qualify for next year's UEFA Cup tournament. The versatile defender impressed Manchester United and Tottenham with his excellent passing and nine goals scored, but Blackburn's management always maintained that this player was very important to them and not for sale. Pedersen stated that he really wanted to stay in Mark Hughes' team as the team is preparing for the UEFA tournament. "A good contract says a lot, but I am happy at Blackburn and the coach trusts me, which is the most important thing," said M.G.Pedersen. "Next season we will play in Europe, in the UEFA Cup, and that is new to me, so I will do my best to help this club." It was also revealed that another defender, Steven Reid - a 25-year-old player for the Irish national team, who was also reportedly of interest to Tottenham, signed a four-year contract with Blackburn. "We are very pleased that Steven has decided to tie his future with the club. Last season, he was one of the main players of the team and the fact that he decided to sign a contract is very good news. I think all Blackburn fans will warmly welcome them," said president John Williams officially on the club's website.
