In the "Premier" League on Tuesday evening, as players were intensively changing clubs, four matches of the 24th round of the championship took place as well. The crisis-stricken "Middlesbrough" club managed to win its first victory in the league since last November, London derby saw "Fulham" snatch a victory against "Tottenham", while the other two matches ended in a draw.
"Middlesbrough", which had been winless for over two months and had fallen to the bottom half of the table, visited the absolute underdog "Sunderland" and easily defeated them 3-0. The goals for the winners were scored by Emanuel Pogatetz, Stuart Parnaby, and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
The match in London between "Fulham" and "Tottenham" was much more intense. It seemed that the match would end goalless, but in the 72nd minute, after the guests' defender Michael Dawson was sent off the field, "Fulham" gained a numerical advantage and utilized it in the last minute of the match when Carlos Bocanegra scored the winning goal with a header.
"Tottenham", aiming to move up to the fourth position, failed to capitalize on this opportunity as they played a draw with the "Wigan" team at home. The visiting "Everton" team took the lead after David Thompson scored an own goal, but at the end of the first half, Paul Scharner equalized the score. As the match neared its end, one player from each team received a red card, but the result remained unchanged.
"Charlton" tied in points with the "Everton" team at home, despite both teams hitting the woodwork, playing a goalless draw with "W.B.A". The remaining six matches of the 24th round will take place on Wednesday evening.
