The Lithuanian national team was once again held back by Liechtenstein footballers. After a nerve-wracking battle, the Lithuanian national team failed to break the resistance of the opponents and had to settle for a 0:0 draw.
The match ended with Lithuania playing with ten men after Edgaras Cesnauskas was sent off, and the best chance to score at the end of the game fell to Tomas Danilevicius, but his shot was saved brilliantly by Liechtenstein goalkeeper Peter Jehle.
The next match for the Lithuanian national team will be on Tuesday in Glasgow against the Scottish footballers.
Lithuanian national team goalkeeper Žydrūnas Karčemarskas: "We tried, we tried to create something, but luck was not on our side. All players tried, we had chances, the opponent's goalkeeper played well. I don't see any major tragedy here. It turns out Liechtenstein is not a favorable opponent for us. We will have to draw conclusions before the match in Scotland."
Lithuanian national team defender Marius Papsys: "Not the result we hoped for. We failed to score. We had chances both in Liechtenstein and this time - at least two clear-cut ones. Luck was not on our side today. We didn't concede a goal, the defense played decently, but the attack is lacking. We will try to play our football in Scotland and convert our chances."
Lithuanian national team defender Deividas Šemberas: "This result is not satisfying for us. We were hoping for a victory, so we are very disappointed. Many things need to be fixed, many mistakes. We are struggling to attack properly, to control the ball. There are many problems, that's why the result is like this. But we must not give up, correct those mistakes, try not to make mistakes against such teams, and the result will be better. We have three days to prepare for the next match."
Lithuanian national team defender Saulius Mikoliūnas: "We wanted a victory and three points. We failed to score. We disappointed ourselves and the fans. Maybe we lack self-confidence, better finishing of attacks. Since we didn't score quickly, we started to get nervous, time was running out, so it became harder and harder."
