The club has reason to worry about its financial future, as owner Silvio Berlusconi was ordered to pay a fine of more than half a billion euros.
Over the weekend, a court ruled that Berlusconi's company "Fininvest", which formally owns "Milan", must pay a fine of 560 million euros to its competitor CIR. This penalty was imposed because in 1990 "Fininvest" bribed a judge in order to obtain a unilateral decision.
"This directly affects the 'Milan' team," said vice president Adriano Galliani. "The amount is serious, simply absurd. Such compensation is unheard of in Europe."
Last year, "Milan" had a deficit of 60 million euros.
