Today the newcomers of the Italian championship ("Serie A") rented out goalkeeper Cristian Abbiati for one season.

The former Italian national team goalkeeper was also linked to "Fiorentina" and "Palermo". "Genoa" will be able to purchase Abbiati after the 2005-2006 season, if the club is satisfied with his performance.

Immediately after the departure of 28-year-old Abbiati, "AC Milan" unexpectedly announced that they have bought goalkeeper Dimitrios Eleftheropoulos. The transfer fee is undisclosed. The 28-year-old Greek has signed a 12-month contract with this year's Champions League finalists.

It is believed that the former "Olympiacos" goalkeeper will not have to defend the "AC Milan" goal for a long time, but only occasionally replace the hero of "San Siro", Dida.
