On Wednesday evening, an extremely attacking Milan derby took place in the quarterfinals of the Italian Cup.
Both teams tried to create dangerous attacks from the very beginning of the match, and Giacomo Bonaventura and Suso had excellent chances to score already in the first half.
Closer to this goal were the "Inter" players, when goalkeeper Antonio Donnarumma scored an own goal, but the referee disallowed the precise shot after using video review due to Andrea Ranocchia's offside.
In the second part of the match, Bonaventura and Suso stood out again, with the latter having several opportunities to score. However, Samir Handanovič guarded the goal excellently and the result remained 0-0 at the end of the main time.
"Milan" footballers finally managed to break through the opponent's defense in extra time, when Patrick Cutrone, who appeared after a substitution in the penalty area, took advantage of a great pass by Suso. His shot was decisive.
Looking at the position of both teams in the "Serie A" tournament table, the end of this match can be considered unexpected, however, this is the third consecutive defeat for "Inter". Meanwhile, Gennaro Gattuso, who recently took over the reins of "Milan", kept his promise to pose a serious challenge to his main rivals, which should strengthen his position at least slightly.
Result:
"Milan" 1 - 0 "Inter" (after extra time)
[1-0] 104' Patrick Cutrone
