The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has overturned the ban imposed on "Milan" for next season to participate in the UEFA Europa League for breaches of financial fair play rules.
The punishment for the "fashion capital" club was announced by UEFA at the end of June, but the "rossoneri" who finished seventh in Italy ultimately emerged unscathed.
However, "Milan" may still face a different form of punishment as CAS agreed that the club had breached the rules.
"CAS Panel dismissed Milan's request to compel UEFA to enter into an agreement with it, but acknowledged that the decision of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) Adjudicatory Chamber to exclude Milan from the UEFA club competition was disproportionate," the CAS statement said.
"The Panel found that some important details were not properly analyzed by the Adjudicatory Chamber or could not have been properly analyzed at the time the challenged decision was taken, and noted that the current club situation is better due to the recently changed owner.
"The Panel decided to refer the case back to the UEFA CFCB, as requested by the club, as it considers the Adjudicatory Chamber to be in a better position than the CAS Panel to render a new decision taking into account the current financial situation of the club."
Later, UEFA confirmed the same news.
