Mista: "I Want to Stay in Valencia" © EuroFootball.com

Spain's champion and UEFA Cup-winning forward Mista has expressed his desire to stay in Valencia despite negotiations with the club for a new contract breaking down.

The forward's contract with Valencia's Spanish national team is valid for less than a year, and the player recently ended negotiations for a new contract. Due to this, rumors quickly spread that Mista would leave Valencia's club once his contract expired.

The forward was linked to clubs like Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in these rumors, but the player himself stated that he wants to remain a member of Valencia.

The 25-year-old most productive Spanish championship player from last season hopes that negotiations for a new contract will be resumed and that he will reach an agreement with the club.

"I did not sign a new contract with Valencia because I did not like some things in the offer that interested the club's leaders," said Mista, adding optimistically: "But we still have eight months to agree on a new contract."

"I believe I can play well alongside [Marco] Di Vaio and I see no reason why I would want to switch to another club," Mista explained the reasons behind his decision in his statement.
