German national team and Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is happy to be among the three contenders for the "Ballon d'Or" award, but emphasizes that he has little chance against the names of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo worldwide.
Neuer is described as a revolutionary in the goalkeeper position. He and the German national team managed to win the World Cup, but the main candidates for the 2014 best footballer award are Messi and Ronaldo, who can boast impressive individual statistics.
"I am proud to be a candidate for the 'Ballon d'Or'," the goalkeeper told a German newspaper. "The other two candidates are very important brands and for this reason, I think they have an advantage."
Neuer also claims that next year with Bayern Munich they promise to conquer the UEFA Champions League, whose final will take place in Germany.
"In 2012 we missed the chance to win the Champions League in our city. However, we want to take revenge for that and will try to win trophies in our country," added the German.
