Probably learning from their first defeat at the Stade Louis II stadium, Chelsea started attacking from the very beginning of this match. Hasselbaink and Joe Cole had several good chances to score. In the middle of the first half, with a fantastic shot from the right, Gronkjaer put London in the lead, surprising the goalkeeper Roma. This advantage could only last for four minutes, as a shot from Morientes hit the crossbar. Both teams had chances after that, but towards the end of the first half, Lampard doubled Chelsea's lead. After this goal, Chelsea relaxed a bit, and Monaco took advantage - in the second minute of added time, Morientes scored with his head after a cross from Ibarra.

Chelsea's hopes of reaching the final were dashed in the 60th minute, when Morientes equalized - it was the Spanish striker's 9th goal in the Champions League this year.

The final will be played on May 26, Wednesday, at the AufSchalke Arena in Gelsenkirchen. This stadium, built in 2001, can accommodate 62,000 spectators.
