"Monaco" defeated "Lorient", while a passionate match between "Lyon" and "Marseille" ended in a draw

On the evening, the seventh round of the French championship ended.

Last season's bronze medalists, Monaco football players, continue to struggle - this time Leonardo Jardim's students lost at home to the Lorient club. Despite the hosts managing to eliminate a two-goal deficit, they still managed to extend the victory thanks to Benjamin Moukandjo, playing almost an hour.

Meanwhile, Saint-Etienne confidently defeated Nantes at home with a score of 2-0 and rose to third place.

The evening match was full of emotions - the fans gathered at Marseille's Stade Velodrome were anxious from the beginning and threw objects at Lyon club players. Their main target - former Marseille club symbol Mathieu Valbuena, who moved to the rival team after the season in Russia.

The passionate fans were dissatisfied with the referee's decisions - initially, in the 25th minute, he awarded a penalty to the hosts, which Alexandre Lacazette converted into his first goal of the season. Later, Romain Alessandrini was sent off for a foul on the aforementioned Valbuena.

Eventually, the match was stopped for fifteen minutes. It seems that the break really helped Marseille, as they managed to equalize the score even playing with ten players. This was done by the Manchester City loaned defender Karim Rekik.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
