"Monaco" vice-president Vadim Vasilyev once again confirmed that Kylian Mbappe was supposed to join Real Madrid last summer, but the player himself refused the transfer.
In the summer of 2017, European clubs were fighting for the then-future world champion's signature. Real Madrid was ahead in the race and had already made an offer to Monaco, but the player decided to choose PSG.
Such a choice by the player was not a coincidence - PSG guaranteed him a starting position. Monaco's manager recalls Real Madrid's offer and says that Florentino Perez is still angry at him for letting K. Mbappe go to Paris instead of Madrid.
"Our clubs are friends. Every time I meet with Perez, I receive angry remarks about why I didn't sell Mbappe to him," Vasilyev told RMC radio.
Earlier, Vasilyev had said that Real Madrid offered 160 million euros. The offer was accepted, but after talking to K. Mbappe, they were forced to change their decision.
