Debuting in the Italian national team, Thiago Motta insists that he feels like a true Italian.
The 28-year-old footballer was born in Brazil and even represented his native country's youth team. However, now he has decided to accept Cesare Prandelli's invitation, and FIFA allowed him to wear "La Nazionale" jersey in a friendly match against Germany on Wednesday.
"I hope to play and succeed. It will be a special evening. I will not be able to compare these emotions to anything I have experienced," said Motta.
"I feel honored to have this opportunity, so I will give it my all. Wearing the national team jersey is one of my dreams, and it will come true after many years."
He added: "I was born in Brazil, but I feel like a true Italian. I know the words of the anthem, but not the melody, so I will not sing."
