Madrid forward, Englishman Michael Owen, announced today to journalists that the best of his game will be seen by Royal club fans in the future.
Speaking before the World Cup 2006 qualifying match against Northern Ireland on Saturday, Owen told journalists that he had worked a lot with "Real" medical staff and his best form will come in the future.
Despite missing most of the season on the "Real" bench, Owen feels no bitterness and claims that the offer from "Real" was so good that he couldn't refuse it.
"My situation in Madrid could be worse," said M. Owen. "There are many stars in the club and it's hard for the coach to put them all on the field in every game. This year I have already scored ten goals and it's not a bad result considering how much time I've played."
"I'm still not in top physical shape," continued Owen. "Recently, I worked a lot with "Real" doctors trying to gain speed."
Owen, who came from Liverpool in the summer, does not regret his decision: "I couldn't refuse that offer. "Real" is the best club in the world and I will have something to boast about to my children and grandchildren."
Taking the opportunity, Owen also spoke about his teammates: "All my teammates in Madrid have treated me great. I don't speak Spanish fluently yet, but I manage to communicate well. I am very grateful to David (Beckham) and Luis (Figo) for their help and support in adapting."
The 25-year-old Englishman also stated that he is not a star and thanked the "Real" fans for their support: "I am not a star. I play alongside stars - Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Zinedine Zidane, and Beckham - but they are just players too."
"I am very pleased with the "Real" supporters, whose support I have felt since the first moment in Madrid. Fans in Madrid and Liverpool are similar - they all think only about victories," concluded the "Real" forward.
