London's "Arsenal" defender Mesut Ozil wrote a message on social media urging former teammates to stop criticizing Arsene Wenger's protégés.
"My friends from the German national team have been asking me in recent days what's going on at Arsenal.
They insisted that they heard about an escalating crisis, as reported in the press, spoken by experts and former players.
It is claimed that things have not been this bad in recent seasons or even decades," Ozil wrote.
"Four years ago, on the last day of the transfer window, I arrived at Arsenal - convinced by coach Arsene Wenger.
He told me about the rich history of the team, about living legends like Bergkamp, Vieira, or Pires.
The Frenchman said he would help me improve as a player, and that's what every footballer wants to hear.
Throughout my career in the capital of England, I have heard a lot of criticism - too expensive, too greedy, displaying bad body language, not willing to fight.
Although footballers have to deal with harsh words, I never expected legends to behave this way.
I urge former 'gunner' players: enough talking and start supporting us!
Although I don't know how my career will unfold next year, I am looking forward to my fifth season in the Arsenal team and I am happy to wear these colors.
Last year I experienced many joyful moments and I know what this team means to the people of London, Great Britain, and the whole world."
