Latvian national team coaches probably rejoiced when they found out about the schedule of the World Cup qualifiers.
In the first match, our neighbors had to play against Andorra, and in the second - against the Faroe Islands national team.
However, not everything was so simple.
The Andorran team was defeated by just 1:0, and in yesterday's match at home, a fiasco of 0:2 was experienced.
"My players showed all their abilities, but at a crucial moment we made mistakes and our opponents smiled luck. I don't know if we can play better," - said Latvian coach Marian Pahars after the match.
"The Faroe Islands national team knew how to punish us. That's football and I hope that today's match was just unsuccessful.
I'm glad we didn't collapse when trailing 0:2 and my players continued to attack the opponents' goal."
