At the European Football Championship, the semi-finals stage began - Portugal defeated tournament sensation Wales 2-0.
The first goal was scored by Cristiano Ronaldo, who repeated the legendary Frenchman Michel Platini's championship goal record (9).
In the first half of the match, the teams played cautiously and did not create many scoring opportunities.
In the 9th minute, Portugal attempted to attack the opponent's goal, but C. Ronaldo failed to score.
In the 16th minute, Mario attempted a shot from a distance, but the ball flew past Wales' goal.
Wales tried to stay scoreless - their leader G. Bale took a shot after a corner kick, but it was inaccurate.

In the 62nd minute, C. Ronaldo forced James Chester to commit a foul and the referee showed him a yellow card. The penalty kick was taken by the injured player himself - the ball flew over the crossbar.
In the 80th minute, Bale again fired a rocket from a distance - Rui Patricio was in the right place. As the match was ending, C. Ronaldo could have become the top scorer in the European Championships, but he missed the goal from a sharp angle.
