On Monday evening, Nathan Ake shared a photo from the hospital on social media, as he underwent foot surgery.

As the player himself wrote, a fracture was detected in his foot, which had been troubling him for several months.

It is still unclear exactly how long the Dutchman will be forced to spend away from football.
