N. Al-Khelaifi: Other clubs offered Mbappe more

"Paris Saint-Germain" president Nasser Al-Khelaifi insists that the fight for Kylian Mbappe's signature was very difficult, but ultimately they managed to attract him even by offering a lower salary than their competitors.

The 18-year-old talent left "Monaco" on loan basis for the season, but next summer an impressive sum of 180 million euros will be paid for him. Then he will become the second most expensive football player in the world after PSG's new signing Neymar.

However, as the vice champion of "Ligue 1" explains, if Mbappe had accepted another offer, he would have earned more.

"There was a lot of competition, believe me", Al Khelaifi told "Daily Telegraph".

"Some other clubs offered him more than we did. Every big club wanted him. Nevertheless, we explained our project and the club's ambitions to him. Besides, he is French, a Parisian, and he had this club in his heart."

"He wanted to stay in France and defend the French colors in the Champions League. It's deep in him."

"He wants to create history here, but he has already started it - have you seen his pictures from when he was here 10 years ago? The picture doesn't lie. He loves this club and playing for "Paris Saint-Germain" is his dream."

Mbappe has already made his debut for PSG by scoring a goal and making an assist.
