Bayern Munich's strategist Niko Kovac does not even think about any scenario other than fighting for victory ahead of today's match against Borussia Dortmund.
At 19:30, Bayern will host Borussia at home. These matches are particularly expensive in the fight for the title - in case of BVB's victory, they would gain a five-point advantage, while Bayern could return to the first position.
When asked if he can imagine Bayern not winning the Bundesliga championship, Kovac replied: "Second place is for the first loser."
"These matches are very important to us. We know the price of them and that we will have to play excellently both defensively and offensively. It will be an interesting match as two equally worthy teams will face each other. Players, fans, and the club will give everything for the victory to be on our side," Kovac said.
This week, Bayern conceded four goals in the German Cup against second division side Heidenheim. Kovac admitted that he is concerned about the team's defensive play.
"Everything depends on responsibility and discipline. It's not only the defenders who are responsible for that. We are ready, regardless of the level we have.
France became world champions not only because they had good attacking players, but also because of their defensive work. It's no coincidence that defense brings titles. We need to improve our defensive play - not only as individual players, but as a team as always.
You cannot forget about defense even if you are a creator. As I said, we will have a really interesting match. The winner will be the one who makes fewer mistakes," Kovac added.
