"Chelsea" team defender Nemanja Matic seriously criticized his national team members and threatened to withdraw from the team if the situation does not change.
Serbia suffered a 1-4 defeat to the Czech Republic on Friday, experiencing their seventh failure in the last eleven matches. Failing to qualify for the main stage of the third consecutive national team tournament, the Serbians angered Matic.
"I always try to be a positive example, but some people don't want to see that. The attitude of some players is unacceptable, and it was evident not only on the field but also off it from the moment we gathered on Monday. I told the coach that there is no point in dragging the team forward if the situation does not change," Matic told journalists.
The only qualifying match in which the defender could find positivity was the match against Albania, which the Serbians won 2-0.
"When our personal reputations were insulted, we managed to do everything right. However, I would like to know whether my teammates behave just as poorly in their clubs, or if they are simply in a bad mood when they come to the national team," said the angry Chelsea defender.
During his career in the Serbian national team, 27-year-old Matic played 25 matches and did not score any goals."
