On Tuesday evening, seven matches of the fourth round of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League were played.
Most attention was drawn to the match at the "Santiago Bernabeu" stadium, where Madrid's "Real" faced off against Paris's "Saint-Germain". Rafael Benitez's team defeated the visitors from France after a tough battle and secured a spot in the quarter-finals.
Laurent Blanc's team tried to impose their game and dominated possession from the start of the match. Both teams lost important players in the first half ("Real" defender Marcelo and PSG's Marco Verratti - injured), but the substitution in the "Bianco" camp was more successful.
In the end, defender Nacho, who missed just two minutes in the second half, scored a goal in the 35th minute, which determined the winner of the match. The Spaniard took advantage of the opposing goalkeeper's uncertainty and sent the ball into the net from a sharp angle.
In the second half, PSG resisted and created many dangerous attacks, but the final result remained 1-0 and "Real" with 10 points became the leader of Group A.
In other matches of this group, Donetsk's "Shakhtar" defeated "Malmo" in front of their home fans with a score of 4-0.
In Group B, "Manchester United" narrowly defeated Moscow's CSKA by Wayne Rooney's goal and climbed to the top spot. Meanwhile, "Wolfsburg" unexpectedly lost 2-0 away to PSV Eindhoven.
Earlier in the Group C match, Astana and Madrid's "Atletico" ended in a goalless draw, while Lisbon's "Benfica" beat Istanbul's "Galatasaray" and became the solid leader of the group.
In Group D, "Manchester City" easily defeated "Sevilla" with a score of 1-3. The winners scored goals in the first half through Raheem Sterling, Fernandinho and Wilfried Bony. The "Citizens" became the second team to secure a spot in the next stage.
Other matches of this group between Monchengladbach's "Borussia" and Turin's "Juventus" ended in a draw with a score of 1-1. "Man City" with 9 points leads this group, while "Bianconeri" remain in second place.
