The club will now pursue a new policy and offer football players in their fourth decade to extend contracts for only one season.
According to vice president Adriano Galliani, this is the reason why Andrea Pirlo left the team: he was offered a short-term contract, but the Italian wanted to secure his future for a longer period.
“I think it’s unreasonable for a player aged 30-32 to think about a three-year contract,” said Galliani. “From now on, players over 30 will be offered one-year contracts.”
Currently, AC Milan is negotiating with the long-time team's safe 35-year-old Clarence Seedorf.
