New Plan: Fans will return to stadiums in England in May © PA

Football fans in Europe have already gotten used to empty stands, which, apart from a few exceptions and attempts, have not seen spectators for almost a year. Although some countries had already opened stadiums to small groups of fans, such attempts were quickly canceled. Fans returned to the stadiums a few months ago in England, but in December, the stands were empty again in all 'Premier' league matches without exception. However, on Monday, a new hope was lit that some English clubs may receive fan support this season. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a plan to ease quarantine restrictions, which includes allowing a limited number of spectators to return to sports events on May 17th. The plan states that up to 40,000 spectators can attend matches at the country's largest football stadiums. Smaller stadiums will only be able to fill up to a quarter of their capacity. The last round of the 'Premier' league is scheduled for May 23rd, so it is likely that some teams will finish the season in front of at least partially filled stands.
