„Newcastle United“ club signed a five-year contract with attacking midfielder Florian Thauvin from „Marseille“. The 22-year-old Frenchman became the fifth summer signing of the new „Newcastle United“ coach Steve McClaren.
As part of the deal, „Marseille“ sent midfielder Remy Cabella on loan back to Marsel. „Marseille“ will have to buy R. Cabella if he meets certain contract criteria at the end of the season.
„He is the ideal player for our club - a young player with great potential, who is one of the best young European footballers,“ said S. McClaren in the club's statement. „Thauvin is a creative player who can score goals and make assists. We believe he will have a very bright future at our club.“
F. Thauvin joined the „Marseille“ club in the summer of 2013, played 86 games and scored 15 goals."
