On Tuesday, the first three matches of the 21st round were played in the English Premier League. One of the most interesting matches took place at St. James Park stadium, where Newcastle United faced Manchester United. After a dramatic battle, Louis van Gaal's team managed to secure a draw and played on equal terms.
In the 9th minute of the match, Wayne Rooney scored a penalty goal to give the Red Devils a narrow lead. In the 38th minute, young Jesse Lingard increased Man Utd's advantage and it seemed like it could be the end.
However, the Magpies showed character in front of their fans. Towards the end of the first half, Newcastle's forward Georginio Wijnaldum reduced the deficit, and in the 67th minute, Aleksandar Mitrovic equalized from the penalty spot.
After the shock of conceding, Man Utd struggled to recover, but W. Rooney's excellent strike in the 79th minute once again put the visitors ahead from Manchester. It seemed like no one could stop the multiple-time English champions from taking all three points from Newcastle, but Paul Dummett managed to equalize for the second time in the 90th minute to level the score.
After the draw, Man Utd dropped to seventh place, being surpassed by West Ham who beat Bournemouth.
