"Newcastle United" announced that they have loaned Borussia Dortmund's midfielder Mikel Merino for the season. The Bundesliga club acquired the Spanish player from Osasuna last summer, but he only had the opportunity to play in eight league matches last season. It is likely that the 21-year-old player will have much more opportunities within the ranks of the "Magpies" now that they have returned to the Premier League. Merino is the fifth new addition to Newcastle this summer. So far, the team has signed contracts with Christian Atsu, Florian Lejeune, Jacob Murphy, and Javi Manquillo. The defensive midfielder did not score any goals last season.
