Neymar became the most expensive footballer of all time in the summer when the Paris Saint-Germain team paid €222 million for him and he moved from the Barcelona club.
Many speculated that Neymar's father, Neymar senior, who is also his agent, influenced the Brazilian to move because of the huge amount of money promised by the Parisians.
However, it turned out that Neymar's father advised the footballer to stay in Catalonia.
"I was the one who hesitated until the last moment. I told him that the best choice was to stay, but he wanted to take a risk. It was difficult, but Neymar wanted a challenge and I supported him. We were very proud when he was introduced to PSG. Seeing Neymar on the Eiffel Tower was incredible. He loves everything here," Neymar senior said.
"Neymar was motivated by the desire to help Paris win the Champions League. If Neymar wants to win the golden ball, he will win it, but I don't think he really wants that. If he only wanted that, he could have stayed in Barcelona. He signed a five-year contract, so he has five years to win the Champions League," added Neymar's father.
