Newly baked world's most expensive footballer Neymar insists that he moved to Paris Saint-Germain in search of a greater challenge.
It seemed that within the ranks of Barcelona, the Brazilian had everything - a good contract, great opportunities to shine on the field, and the chance to compete for the most important trophies.
However, the French vice-champions decided to lay out 222 million euros for him, and Neymar agreed to open a new chapter in his career.
"I wanted something bigger, a bigger challenge," Neymar said. "My heart wanted a new ambition, that's why I am here before you. It was my heart that told me to move to PSG."
Speaking about his motivations, the 25-year-old star also denied rumors that he left to escape from Lionel Messi's shadow.
"No, that didn't influence my decision at all," added the Brazilian. "I wanted to come to Paris, and it was only about finding a new challenge. It didn't happen because I didn’t feel like being a big star - I felt really good. I am in Paris not because of that. I am here for a new challenge and new trophies. I want to dream bigger, play as well as I can, and improve even more."
"To sign the contract, we had all the necessary ingredients. I want to feel truly happy in the club."
"I can't wait to start training with my new teammates."
Neymar also revealed that the decision to leave Barcelona was the hardest of his life. However, he assured that he had spoken to other Brazilian players in PSG, so he already feels at home.
