On the evening, the first two matches of the 29th round of the French championship were played. The previous match took place between the clubs "Nice" and "Caen."
Lucien Favre's team played at home and hoped to temporarily overtake the leading "Monaco" in the tournament table. However, the match did not start as planned.
Despite the fact that the hosts controlled the ball significantly longer, at the end of the first half Ivan Santini scored a header goal for the guests to take the lead. And if that wasn't enough, right after the break Yann Karamoh sent Nice's team into an even bigger downfall.
Nice further strengthened their attack after that episode and this eventually bore fruit in the middle of the second half when Mario Balotelli and Anastasios Donis scored goals. Nevertheless, the match did not expand the lead for the favorites.
This means that "Paris Saint-Germain" will have a great chance to rise to second place, and "Monaco" may be able to pull away from at least one of their pursuers.
Later in the evening, the "Marseille" team hosted the "Angers" footballers at home, forcing them to withdraw the ball from their own net in the ninth minute. This time, after a pass from Dimitri Payet, Florian Thauvin scored a long-range shot.
Before the end of the first half, Payet provided another precise assist, and Remy Cabella managed to double the lead.
After the coastal team gained a safe advantage, their attacks slowed down, but in the 77th minute, Thauvin secured their victory by scoring a double. Thanks to all three goals, "Marseille" temporarily rose to fifth place.
