Nicolas Anelka becomes the playing coach of Mumbai football club

Former French national team and London's “Chelsea” star Nicolas Anelka has become the head coach of the Indian football club “Mumbai City.” The Frenchman, who has been playing for the club since 2014, replaced the dismissed Peter Reid in the coaching position.

The 36-year-old footballer scored two goals in his first seven matches in the first season of the Indian “Super League.”

In 2012, N. Anelka briefly held a similar position as he was the player-manager of the Chinese team „Shenhua“ in Shanghai.

N. Anelka's debut as the head coach of the Indian club will take place on October 5th, when the first matches of the new Indian “Super League” season will be played.

Throughout his career, N. Anelka has played all over Europe. He has appeared for teams such as “Paris Saint Germain,” London's “Arsenal,” Madrid's “Real,” “Liverpool,” “Manchester City,” Istanbul's “Fenerbahce,” “Bolton Wanderers,” “Chelsea,” Turin's “Juventus,” and “West Bromwich Albion.”
