41-year-old Peter Grant was announced as the new coach of the English "Championship" league team during a press conference on Friday and signed a three and a half year contract with the club.
The former player of the Scotland national team and the same "Norwich" club returned to "Carrow Road" after a three-year break, and recently worked as an assistant coach for "West Ham."
"It's great to come back home," said P.Grant, who replaced Nigel Worthington, who was dismissed from his coaching duties last month. - "I know our goal, and we will try to achieve this challenge. I face a great challenge - to bring the team back to the English Premier League. Not only to bring Norwich back to the most prestigious English championship, but also to keep the club there."
The agreement on compensation with "West Ham" was carefully considered and P.Grant did not forget to compliment the unflappable head coach Alan Pardew.
"He was fantastic because he helped me and I have to thank him for that," said the new Norwich coach.
In the past, P.Grant played in the defensive midfielder position and in 1997 he left Glasgow Celtic. Playing for the "Canaries" team, he appeared in 75 matches. A loyal player to Celtic for fifteen years, he represented the Scottish national team twice.
""Norwich" was the first club to bring me to England as a player, and I really enjoyed my time spent here. It's a wonderful environment, people know the great potential of their club, and I want to join that and bring the team back to the Premier League,"
When P.Grant left "Norwich" in 1999, he spent one season with "Reading" and ended his professional football career at "Bournemouth," where he also worked as a coach.
