Londono "Chelsea" medikė Eva Carneiro decided to leave the club several weeks after the scandal with coach Jose Mourinho began.
In the first match of the season in the Premier League against "Swansea City," E. Carneiro and another member of the medical staff, Jon Fearn, ran onto the field to assist Eden Hazard who was lying down.
At that time, "Chelsea" was left with 9 players against 11, as goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois had already received a red card earlier.
After the match, J. Mourinho publicly criticized the behavior of his medical staff and banned them from being on the team's bench. E. Carneiro was not allowed to attend the club's matches or training sessions.
This quickly escalated into a major scandal, as J. Mourinho was criticized multiple times for this decision. Since there are very few women working in the Premier League, and E. Carneiro was highly respected, the scandal soon took on a sexist tone. The Football Association is investigating whether J. Mourinho used derogatory or sexist words against the medic.
Chelsea club refused to comment on the medic's departure from work. 42-year-old E. Carneiro had been working with the Chelsea team since 2009, and before that she worked with the England women's football team and the country's track and field athletes.
